ABOUT

Katerina Tsernou,

Clinical Hypnotherapist & Somatic Practitioner

Hi, I am Katerina.

I didn't come to hypnosis through psychology. I came to it through sports.

As a professional volleyball athlete, I began using self-hypnosis before I even knew what to call it. I used specific words, imagery, and mental rehearsal to enhance how I felt and performed. The impact was significant enough to make me ask a question that has stayed with me ever since: How can something happening in the mind so profoundly influence what happens in the body?

That question led me to study Exercise Science and complete a master's degree in Exercise Science & Quality of Life, followed by formal training in clinical hypnotherapy, NLP, somatic approaches, EMDR, and other mind-body modalities.

I began my professional work at the intersection of physical training and mental performance, specializing in hypnosis and psychological skills training with professional and Olympic athletes. I continue this work today, helping athletes develop focus, confidence, mental resilience, and the ability to perform under pressure. I later brought this expertise into clinical settings, supporting people before and after surgery to help reduce stress, manage pain, and support recovery through hypnosis and somatic techniques. Physicians and healthcare professionals refer their patients to me for support with stress regulation, pain management, recovery, and adaptation alongside medical treatment, including people navigating neurological conditions, surgery, and rehabilitation

.Across both settings, I kept seeing the same thing: people often know exactly what they want to change. Knowing isn't always enough. Someone can understand exactly why they can't sleep and still lie awake at 3 a.m. They can know they want to change a habit and still find themselves repeating it. They can know they're safe, yet their body continues to react as if they're not. The harder part is getting the mind and body to respond differently. That's where my work begins.

Real support for stress, anxiety, habits, burnout, and emotional patterns that no longer serve you.

Hypnosomatics® brings together what I've learned through performance science, clinical hypnosis, and somatic practice. At its core is a simple idea: the brain and nervous system are adaptive—they learn patterns, and those patterns can change. Change the patterns, and you can change how you think, feel, function, and experience your life.

Clinical hypnosis uses focused attention, imagery and suggestion to influence how the brain processes experience and responds automatically. Somatic work adds the body's side of that equation, working with physical sensations, movement, and nervous-system responses. Rather than simply analyzing why a pattern exists, we work directly with how it is experienced—and practice a different response.

My goal isn't to give you another thing to manage. It's to help you develop a different response.

I work with people experiencing insomnia and sleep difficulties, anxiety and panic, persistent pain, smoking and unwanted habits, and confidence and performance under pressure—particularly when they have already tried to change these patterns through conscious effort alone.

Each session is individualized to the person and the goal. Clients also receive a personalized recording to support the work between sessions.

Sessions are available online worldwide and in person in New York by request.

If you've already tried what should have worked, that's the conversation I'd want to have.
